Arizona Diamondbacks Bullpen Surrenders Late Lead In Loss To Last Place Rockies

Diamondbacks Bullpen Fumbles Lead in Loss to Rockies

Rocky Relief Reversal

The Arizona Diamondbacks suffered a disappointing defeat on Tuesday night, squandering a late lead against the lowly Colorado Rockies. After holding a 5-2 advantage going into the 8th inning, the Diamondbacks' bullpen faltered, allowing the Rockies to rally for four unanswered runs and clinch a 6-5 victory.

Missed Opportunities Hurt

The Diamondbacks had a prime opportunity to extend their lead in the 7th inning, loading the bases with one out. However, they failed to capitalize on the situation, striking out twice to end the threat. This missed opportunity proved costly, as the Rockies took advantage of their chance in the following inning.

The Diamondbacks' bullpen, which has been a strength for the team this season, uncharacteristically struggled in the 8th inning. Reliever Ian Kennedy surrendered a leadoff home run to Kris Bryant, and two more singles loaded the bases with no outs. A sacrifice fly and a two-run single by Ryan McMahon gave the Rockies the lead, and they would eventually hold on for the win.
