Corruption Trial Against Israeli Pm Netanyahu Resumes

ICC seeks arrest warrants for Netanyahu, Hamas leader Sinwar

Corruption trial against Israeli PM Netanyahu resumes

The International Criminal Court (ICC) is seeking arrest warrants for Hamas leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the court's chief prosecutor said on Monday. The move comes after a two-month pause in the corruption trial against Netanyahu, who is accused of receiving bribes, fraud, and breach of trust. "I have decided to seek arrest warrants for the following individuals: Yahya Sinwar, de facto leader of Hamas, and Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel," ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan said in a statement. "The applications for arrest warrants are based on the evidence collected during the preliminary examination, which concluded that there is a reasonable basis to believe that both individuals have committed war crimes and crimes against humanity," he added. The ICC is an intergovernmental organization and international tribunal that investigates and prosecutes individuals accused of committing the most serious crimes of concern to the international community, namely genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression.
